Statues in parks, palaces left by royal families long ago forgotten, monuments built during the heyday of empire. Each of these is an example of historical landmarks that are found in cities all over the world. They appear as centerpieces to a city's identity, main centers within parks and public spaces, or disappear in the forgotten parts of the city, ever stuck on the cusp of rennovation. With this essay, I aim to analyze and explore how historical landmarks within Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, influence people's perception of state power.
